What's always included
Every mini-split system sold on HeatAndCool.com ships with the following:
- Indoor air handler (head unit) — the wall-mounted unit installed inside your space
- Outdoor condenser unit — the compressor unit installed outside
- Indoor mounting plate — pre-attached to the indoor head unit; used to mount the air handler to the wall
- Remote control — included with all units
- Installation manual — available as a download on the product page
What is NOT included (sold separately)
The following items are required for a complete installation but are not included in the standard system purchase:
- Line set — the copper refrigerant lines connecting the indoor and outdoor units. Line sets come in different lengths (e.g. 16 ft, 25 ft, 50 ft). Check the product page's accessories tab to purchase the right length for your installation.
- Condenser pad — the pad the outdoor unit sits on. Recommended for all ground-level outdoor installations.
- Installation kit / flare fittings — some models offer an optional condenser installation kit (R32 or R410A). Check the accessories tab on your product page.
- Electrical disconnect / breaker — electrical work required for installation must be arranged separately with a licensed electrician or HVAC contractor.
DIY mini-split systems
Some of our mini-split systems are DIY-friendly and come bundled with a pre-charged line set, eliminating the need for a certified HVAC technician to handle refrigerant. These are labeled as "DIY" on the product page. Check the "What's Included" section in the product overview to confirm what comes in the box.
Does it include a line set?
Some bundles include a line set — check the "What's Included" section on the product page to confirm. If a line set is not included, you can find compatible options under the Accessories tab on the product page. Line sets are available in multiple lengths; choose based on the distance between your indoor and outdoor units.
Is it plug-and-play?
Mini-split systems are not plug-and-play. A standard (non-DIY) mini-split requires a licensed HVAC technician to install, connect the refrigerant line set, and commission the system. DIY models simplify this by using pre-charged, quick-connect line sets, but still require proper electrical hookup and mounting.
