How do I determine the right BTUs for my system?Updated 9 months ago

To determine the right BTUs for your system, you need to know the square footage of your home or the desired space where you want cooling and heating. You also need to consider the current insulation of the home or specific space.

Additionally, take the geographic location into account. Moreover, you need to know the number of people that will inhabit that space. This is crucial because, on average, an adult emits about 200 to 300 BTUs of heat.

For example, if you're calculating for a coffee shop that can hold 30 people, you need to multiply 30 by 300, which amounts to 9,000 BTUs required just to accommodate the people, excluding the other points to consider when sizing a unit.

Machinery and the amount of it must also be taken into account, as essentially anything that emits heat must be included in the calculation.

Once you have these points calculated, you'll know the exact unit for your needs.
